Le label SOLID a été crée en 1995 par ETIENNE DE CRECY, ALEX GOPHER & PIERRE-MICHEL LEVALLOIS. Malgré sa discrétion, le label a fait beaucoup pour la scène électronique française (il a notamment découvert le groupe AIR). Le label était au départ une association qui avait déjà publié le 1er maxi d'ALEX GOPHER sous le nom d'ALEX (le "Gopher EP"). Même pressé à un nombre d'exemplaires limité, SOLID a suscité l'enthousiasme de certaines maisons de disques (comme SOURCE qui signera les albums de AIR par la suite) et la société DISQUES SOLID fut créée plus tard. Les débuts du label ont été marqués par le redoutable succès du projet SUPERDISCOUNT d'abord sorti sous la forme d'une série de 4 maxis vinyls puis regroupés sur une compilation CD, contenant les tubes "Prix Choc" et "Le Patron Est Devenu Fou !". ETIENNE DE CRECY & ALEX GOPHER sortent leurs différents projets (TEMPOVISION pour EDC, "You, My Baby & I" ou WUZ pour GOPHER parfois aidé par DEMON en qui SOLID fonde plein d'espoirs mais ce dernier créera finalement son label 20000ST ...). L'écurie SOLID accueillait également d'autres artistes d'univers diverses comme COSMO VITELLI et THIERRY STREMLER. Après le succès énorme de SUPERDISCOUNT, SOLID se dote d'une subdivision en 1997 nommée POUMTCHAK où ETIENNE sort des maxis sous le nom de MOOLOODJEE, ALEX GOPHER y lancera même WUZ. POUMTCHAK accueille aussi des travaux de HARISSON CRUMP, DEMON, DIMITRI FROM PARIS aka DISCO D., ou encore BOOMBASS de CASSIUS aka SUPABEATPUSHER ... Malheureusement (et ce, pour une raison encore inconnue), SOLID a fermé ses portes (mais POUMTCHAK est encore présent).

SOLID record label was set up in 1995 by ETIENNE DE CRECY, ALEX GOPHER & PIERRE-MICHEL LEVALLOIS. Even if they are discrete, their stuff has done a lot for french electronic scene (they discovered AIR). The label was first an association which published a limited number of copies of ALEX GOPHER's first EP (ALEX : "Gopher EP"), SOLID received very good feedbacks from record companies like SOURCE (which will sign AIR later). Then, the SOLID association becomes DISQUES SOLID company. The beginnings of the SOLID were marked by the phenomenal success of SUPERDISCOUNT project, first it was released on 4 10" EPs, then it became a CD compilation featuring huge hits like "Le Patron Est Devenu Fou !" or "Prix Choc". ETIENNE DE CRECY releases his personnal TEMPOVISION project whereas ALEX GOPHER produces for him ("You, My Baby & I") or for WUZ (sometimes with DEMON, DEMON could have been signed by SOLID but he prefered creating 20000ST record label ...). SOLID teams welcomes artists coming from different universes like COSMO VITELLI or THIERY STREMLER. After SUPERDISCOUNT success, a subdivision appeared : POUMTCHAK where ETIENNE releases EPs under MOOLOODJEE name, it's where ALEX GOPHER launches his WUZ project. Finally, POUMTCHAK owns some works by HARISSON CRUMP, DEMON, DIMITRI FROM PARIS aka DISCO D., & BOOMBASS from CASSIUS aka SUPABEATPUSHER ... Unfortunately (& for a reason we don't know yet), SOLID is dead (POUMTCHAK is still alive tho').
